"Georg
Steuler established a firm in 1908 which produced acid-resistant
reactors for the chemical industry. It expanded into a group of
companies united by four factories. In 1918 the second factory which
was founded by Walter Mueller in Hoehr-Grenzhausen, was bought. This
firm chiefly produced stoneware which was glazed with salt according to
the “Westerwaelder” tradtion and refined stoneware according to the
traditional old German way till the beginning of the war. These were
produced in accordance with the jewish artists’style. In the 20’s this
repertoire was adapted to the contemporary designs. In 1931 a new
trademark was introduced which was connected to the transformation of
the production to ceramic stoneware and ceramics of daily use and
various colours of glazes were also offered. Due to the restrictions
on production caused by the war which meant that only bowls for the
canteens and cans were being produced during the war, they furthered
the repertoire and started offering simple coffee and tea services. The
firm was shut down in 1996."
